Cruise ship tours: Oceania Cruises' Sirena

Originally built in 1999, the 684-passenger Sirena joined the Oceania Cruises fleet in April 2016 after a massive, $50 million overhaul.

The hub of Sirena's outdoor decks is the pool area on Deck 9.

Sirena has a single large pool flanked by twin hot tubs and plush lounge chairs.

The main pool area features two rows of comfortable loungers for two. Behind them is the Waves Bar, which serves drinks during the day.

Among little touches on Sirena, lounge chairs around the main pool are covered daily in plush fabric covers.

More lounge chairs can be found at the front of the ship on Deck 11.

At the top of Sirena on Deck 11 overlooking the bow is a golf putting green.

The top of Sirena also is home to a shuffleboard court.

Just steps away from the main pool on the starboard side of Deck 9 is Waves Grill, which serves burgers and other casual fare at lunch.

Waves Grill also offers a light, self-serve breakfast in the morning.

One deck up from Sirena's pool is a jogging/walking track.

Also located on Deck 9 is a small outdoor lounge area that is one of the few spaces on the ship where smoking is allowed.

Like ocean liners of old, Sirena features a grand staircase rising from its Reception Hall on Deck 4 to Deck 5, which is the hub of the ship's interior.

Seating areas are located on Deck 4 on both sides of the grand staircase.

Sirena's Upper Hall is lined with wood paneling.

The Upper Hall is lined with wood paneling and elegant furnishings including several comfortable seating areas.

The Upper Hall also is home to two small boutiques that sell jewelry and clothing.

Moving forward from the Upper Hall on Deck 5, passengers arrive at Sirena's main bar, the wood-paneled Martini's.

Like the Upper Hall, Martini's is filled with comfortable furnishings and has the feel of an elegant living room in a private home.

Martini's is a popular gathering point for passengers before and after dinner.

Martini's has its own piano where a pianist performs nightly during happy hour and into the evening.

Adjacent to Martini's is Sirena's small casino, which offers several gaming tables.

The Casino also has more than a dozen slot machines.

Just aft of the Upper Hall is Baristas, a coffee bar serving cappuccinos and other espresso drinks.

Lined with a faux fireplace and bookshelves, Baristas has a cozy feel.

At the back of Deck 5 is the Grand Dining Room, Sirena's main restaurant.

The Grand Dining Room serves European-inspired cuisine as well as health-focused signature dishes from the famed Canyon Ranch spa.

At lunchtime, the Grand Dining Room turns into Jacques Bistro, serving dishes designed by famed French chef Jacques Pepin.

Cuisine is a major focus on Sirena, which has four restaurants. Among them: Tuscan Steak, an Italian steakhouse that is a new concept for Oceania.

Tuscan Steak offers a mix of dishes found at two restaurants on other Oceania ships, Polo Grill and Toscana.

Sirena is the first of Oceania's four 'R class' ships to have Red Ginger, an Asian eatery that first debuted on the line's Marina in 2011.

Red Ginger is at the top of the ship on Deck 10, just across from the ship's library.

Sirena also has a casual, buffet eatery called Terrace Cafe.

Located on Deck 9 near the ship's main pool, Terrace Cafe is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Terrace Cafe buffet features a wide array of dishes including fresh-grilled lobster and steaks at dinnertime.

The Terrace Cafe has outdoor seating overlooking the rear of the vessel.

Located at the front of Deck 9 is the Canyon Ranch SpaClub.

Operated by Arizona-based Canyon Ranch, the spa has four treatment rooms for massages, facials and other treatments.

Located at the very front of Deck 9, the Spa Terrace is a private enclave for passengers receiving treatments at the Canyon Ranch SpaClub.

Sirena has 342 cabins, most of which are of the size seen in this picture, which shows what the line calls a Veranda Stateroom.

Cabins on Sirena have both U.S.- and European-style electrical outlets.

The largest cabins on Sirena are its six Owner's Suites, which measure nearly 1,000 square feet.

Oceania completely revamped Sirena's Owner's Suites after taking over the ship from Princess.

Located at the back of the ship on Decks 6, 7 and 8, Owner's Suites have separate living rooms and bedrooms.

A feature of Sirena's Owner's Suites are large bathrooms with walk-in showers.

Owner's Suites have large balconies overlooking the rear of the ship.

Another category of larger cabins on Sirena are its 52 Penthouse Suites, which measure 322 square feet.

Penthouse Suites received a major makeover during the overhaul of Sirena in dry dock in April 2016.

Penthouse Suites come with butler service and other perks such as priority embarkation.

Among the biggest changes to Penthouse Suites during the renovation of Sirena was a complete revamping of bathrooms.

Oceania removed the bathtubs from Penthouse Suites and installed large, glass-walled showers.

Penthouse Suites feature a built-in desk area and floor-to-ceiling, built-in armoires.

Penthouse Suites have seating areas that include a large sofa, chairs and a table.

Penthouse Suite balconies are wider than those found in Sirena's standard balcony cabins.

Self-serve laundrettes are located on cabin decks and are lined with machines that operate on tokens available for purchase at Reception.

One of the best views on board Sirena is from the Horizons lounge on Deck 10, which overlooks the front of the ship.

The Horizons lounge on Sirena has gotten a major makeover that included the removal of room dividers that blocked the views.

The bar in Horizons also features a new look on Sirena as compared to sister ships such as Nautica and Regatta.

As with Oceania's other 'R class' ships, the Horizons lounge features an enclosed room for smokers.

Located on Deck 10, the Library is a charming retreat with comfortable chairs and built-in bookcases lined with a wide range of books that passengers can borrow.

The Library features wood-paneled walls and a faux fireplace.

Scrabble, Monopoly and puzzles are available for passenger use in the Card Room.

Sirena's Fitness Center is located on Deck 9 near the spa.

The Fitness Center has a full range of weight machines as well as cardio machines.

Outdoor promenades line both sides of Sirena on Deck 5.

The Destinations Services desk in the Reception Hall on Deck 4 is where passengers can arrange shore excursions.
