A South Milwaukee woman died after a hit-and-run Thursday in West Allis, according to the West Allis Police Department.

Jennifer Milliman, 63, was crossing the street when she was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of South 62nd Street and West National Avenue.

West Allis police confirmed that the driver, a 91-year-old man, has been arrested for the incident. He's cooperative with law officials and is being recommended on a charge of hit and run causing death.

Thursday, at 1:54 p.m., West Allis police responded to the intersection on reports of a car hitting a pedestrian. According to the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner's Office, Milliman was pulseless and not breathing and CPR was initiated.

She was then transferred to a local hospital, where she later died. An autopsy performed the next day ruled her death an accident, according the medical examiner's office.

The driver didn't remain on the scene. Police said a witness followed the car and provided directions to police on its location. The driver was then stopped and taken into custody without incident.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The case will be forwarded to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's for further review upon completion of the investigation.
