In what was deemed his first major television appearance since "The Chappelle Show" ended, comedian and Yellow Springs resident Dave Chappelle brought up some local issues when he hosted Saturday Night Live.

After joking America had elected the first "internet troll" for president, Chappelle dove into race and police shootings.

"There’s more shootings that I can literally count," Chappelle said. "You can’t even go to the (expletive) zoo without seeing a shooting this day. They shot a gorilla in my local zoo! And the Cincinnati police said, 'Shooting that gorilla was the toughest decision this department ever had to make.' I said, 'Well, you 'bout to see a lot of n----- in gorilla costumes in Cincinnati."

To be fair, Harambe, the 17-year-old western lowland gorilla killed on May 28 after a 3-year-old boy climbed into the exhibit, was shot and killed by zoo staff.

Chappelle use of the n-word in his opening monologue has drawn significant media attention, and fans expressed enthusiasm about his return to TV.

There are only rumors about what Chappelle's next project might be.
