A Legend is born.

John Legend (birth name John Roger Stephens) and Chrissy Teigen welcomed their first daughter, Luna Simone Stephens, on April 14. Legend tweeted the news on Sunday.

And Teigen posted the baby's weight to Instagram.

Why the social-media birth announcement? Earlier this year, Legend, 37, told USA TODAY that he and Teigen, 30, wanted to share his baby news before any press did.

“We like to control our media, because we feel like it gives us the opportunity to really say it how we want to say it in the tone we want to say it," he said.

The married couple is ready to learn how to be mom and dad, he said.

“We don’t know that much about what we’re supposed to do, really, until it happens. We’re not reading a bunch of books about it. We just figure most of it we’ll learn from experience and receive wisdom from our friends. So, we’re just going to go into it with open hearts and minds and try to be good parents.”

Teigen, who has opened up about undergoing IVF treatment,  seems to already have a sense of humor about parenthood.
