There's too much artificial sweetener in Katy Perry's 'Bon Appetit'

Katy Perry served up a piping-hot new single called Bon Appetit Friday morning. But unfortunately, her collaboration with Migos just doesn't hit the spot.

With lyrics like "got me spread like a buffet," we can safely say that Perry's sugary effort towhet her lover's sexual appetite boasts the least subtle lyrics this side of Warrant's 1990 cheese-metal ditty Cherry Pie.

But if the lyrics are an indulgent sticky spoonful of cherry pie filling, the synthy dance pop underpinning is the aural equivalent of a rice cake: fluffy, unsubstantial and ultimately unsatisfying.

But hey, we'll give Perry credit for inspiring her fan base to pick up their dough cutters and rolling pins and go all GreatBritish Baking Show while they waited for the song to drop after she tweeted her recipe for the "word's best cherry pie," with a few of the song's lyrics baked in.
