Kim K returns to L.A. after Paris robbery; reality show on hold
Three days after her much-covered Paris armed robbery, Kim Kardashian has arrived home in Los Angeles.
Kardashian left her New York apartment building early Thursday and took a private plane with her mom and children home. The family landed on Thursday afternoon, according to TMZ.
Kardashian remained behind closed doors while in New York, where she fled on Monday from Paris. But on Thursday she, husband Kanye West and their two young children headed out of their building.
She wore a baseball cap and a white hoodie that partially obscured her face as she clutched daughter North, 3, and got into a waiting SUV. West followed with 10-month-old son Saint.
Since only Kardashian (in the same white hoodie), mom Kris Jenner and the children were photographed exiting the plane in Los Angeles later Thursday, it appears West stayed behind.
West, who abruptly ended a concert and rushed from the stage on Sunday to deal with what he termed a "family emergency," resumes his Saint Pablo tour on Friday in Chicago.
Now at home, Kardashian has no concrete plans on when she'll resume filming her popular reality show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians. The show was not filming at the time of the robbery (when Kardashian and members of her family were in France for Paris Fashion Week), according to a statement released by the E! network just after the robbery.
The network issued another statement Thursday to USA TODAY: "Kim’s well-being is our core focus right now. No decision has been made as to when production will resume." The last episode aired on Sept. 4.
Meanwhile, back in Paris, the French police were still investigating the robbery but no arrests have been made. Progress is slow due in part to scarcity of CCTV surveillance cameras in the upscale 8th district neighborhood where Kardashian's luxury private apartment building is located.
On Sunday, when Kardashian was in her apartment without her usual security, gun-toting men dressed as police officers and wearing masks forced their way inside, tied her up, gagged her and threatened her while demanding her jewelry. They escaped, apparently on bicycles, with a jewelry box containing more than $10 million in bling, including a $4.5 million 20-carat diamond ring she just got from West.
Since then, she has gone silent on social media, where she is normally very open and chatty. But her family is slowly returning to the digital fray, as unexpected public figures joined in the commenting on her terrifying experience.
Most of Wednesday's social media entries were about what you'd expect — well wishes from Caitlyn and a sexy photo from Kylie — but sister Kourtney's return to Twitter found her in a reflective mood. Her post contained only a prayer emoji and a page from Sarah Young's devotional book Jesus Calling, which read, in part:
“Remember that joy is not dependent on your circumstances. Some of the world’s most miserable people are those whose circumstances seem the most enviable. People who reach the top of the ladder career-wise are often surprised to find emptiness awaiting them. True Joy is a by-product of living in My Presence. Therefore you can experience it in palaces, in prisons…anywhere.”
It remains to be seen whether Kim will change her approach to social media when she resurfaces. Will she take to heart criticism like that of Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, who said she shouldn't flaunt her wealth online?

Discussion of the robbery has even managed to come up in some unusual settings. On Tuesday, Supreme Court justice Stephen Breyer used the incident as an example during oral arguments inShaw v. United States, in which the plaintiff argues he didn't commit fraud against a bank by embezzling from another person's account because the institution was insured.
The following day, Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton expressed sympathy for campaign supporter Kardashian in an interview with Extra, noting, "I feel really bad for her."
She also praised West for how he handled the incident. "He was in the middle of the concert and he ran offstage, bless his heart, she added. "I’m just glad nobody was hurt.”
