A tip to police from a security guard at an Oak Creek hotel led to the arrest of two boys who were stealing items out of vehicles during the early morning hours of Sept. 19.

A security guard at Comfort Suites called police when he saw three kids breaking into vehicles in the parking lot at Candlewood Suites, 6440 S. 13th St., at about 12:10 a.m. The caller stated the suspects, three boys about 11 to 13 years old, took off running when they saw him.

Police were able to find two of the suspects, a 12-year-old boy and an 11-year-old boy, both of Milwaukee, and take them into custody.  The 12-year-old was cited for theft from a vehicle, violating curfew and loitering. The 11-year-old boy was not cited due to his age.

Although police did not find the third suspect, they did find a suitcase full of items that was stolen from a vehicle while searching a nearby wooded area. Those items were returned to the victim.

After the 12-year-old was cited, both boys were taken to Milwaukee where they were released to their parents.
