Burglary

1 An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from an apartment in the 10500 block of West Cortez Circle prior to 10:55 a.m. Jan. 22. The caller told police he accidentally left his keys in his apartment door the night of Jan. 21, and when he woke up the next morning the keys were gone, as well as the items.

Theft

2 A catalytic converter was stolen off a vehicle at The Home Depot, 6489 S. 27th St., between 4:30 and 9:35 p.m. Jan. 18.

3 A man shoplifted a display containing 50 lighters, valued at $100, at Walgreens, 9527 S. 27th St., at about 7:40 p.m. Jan. 19. The suspect, a white male about 30 years old with a reddish-colored beard and wearing a dark colored parka with fur on the hood, fled the store as a passenger in a maroon, four-door vehicle.

4 A man shoplifted a display containing 36 lighters at Walgreens, 7130 S. 76th St., at 12:50 p.m. Jan. 20. The lighters are valued at $79. Police are seeking the suspect for similar thefts in Milwaukee and surrounding counties.

5 About 120 Alprazolam pills were stolen out of a woman’s purse while she was attending a baby shower at her son’s residence in the 7100 block of South 49th Street between 4:30 and 9 p.m. Jan. 22. Police have the name of a suspect.

Assault

6 A 32-year-old man was taken into custody for battery for pushing his wife and preventing her from leaving their home in the 7700 block of West Tuckaway Shores Drive at about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 18.

7 A 39-year-old man was taken into custody for domestic violence/battery in the 5800 block of West Forest View Court for allegedly hitting his wife in the face and arm at about 3:30 p.m. Jan. 19. The man allegedly told police that his wife talked back to him after he “bad-mouthed” her parents, so he hit her.

OWI

8 A 63-year-old man was taken into custody for second-offense OWI and driving with a revoked driver’s license in the 7200 block of South 27th Street at about 9 a.m. Jan. 17. He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw.

9 A 25-year-old Oak Creek man was taken into custody for OWI after he was involved in a hit-and-run collision on South 27th Street and West Ryan Road at about 1 p.m. Jan. 17. He was also cited for possession of drug paraphernalia, hit and run, driving with a suspended license and failing to control a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital for a blood draw.

10 A 65-year-old woman was taken into custody for OWI and cited for following too closely after her minivan rear-ended another vehicle on West Loomis Road and West Drexel Avenue at about 11 a.m. Jan. 20. She was taken to the hospital for a blood draw.

Fire

11 Emergency personnel responded to a vehicle fire at Franklin Park Apartments, 3641 W. College Ave., at 9:45 p.m. Jan. 22. The fire caused damage to two vehicles parked on either side of it. A caller reported seeing man walking away from the vehicle, carrying a bottle and cursing. Police are still looking for the suspect.

Other

12 An intoxicated 57-year-old man was taken into custody for domestic violence/disorderly conduct in the 6900 block of South Lovers Lane Road for allegedly punching a door in his room and threatening to cut his girlfriend’s throat with a knife at about 6 p.m. Jan. 16. After being booked he was taken to jail for felony bail jumping.

13 An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, both of Franklin, were taken into custody after they were caught having sex inside a vehicle in a parking lot in the 4500 block of West Xavier Drive at 7:40 p.m. Jan. 20. They were cited for disorderly conduct and released.
