Burglary

1 Police received a report that a home in the 6700 block of Montgomery Drive was burglarized at about 10:10 p.m. Feb. 5. The resident told police he came home and discovered someone had smashed in the back door and stole a handgun off his nightstand.

Theft

2 An iPhone SE was reported stolen from a customer at Southridge Mall, 5300 S. 76th St., at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 5.

3 Police responded to Walmart, 5301 S. 76th St., after an employee reported they were trying to stop a man who shoplifted children’s clothing at about 4:30 p.m. Feb. 8. The suspect, described as a 6-foot 2-inch, 300-pound black male wearing a Harley-Davidson leather jacket, refused to stop and ran onto a county bus. Police stopped the bus in the city of Milwaukee, where the man was taken into custody and cited for shoplifting.

4 Seven adults and two juveniles were cited for shoplifting at Southridge Mall, 5300 S. 76th St., between Feb. 3 and 9.

Assault

5 A man was taken into custody for domestic violence/disorderly conduct for allegedly punching his wife in the face in the 5400 block of Meadow Drive at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 8.

OWI

6 A man was taken into custody for OWI and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the 7700 block of West Grange Avenue at 3:15 p.m. Feb. 5. A preliminary breath test indicated a blood alcohol content of 0.09. A woman in his car was also taken into custody and cited for underage drinking and possession of marijuana.

Other

7 A man and a woman who were involved in a physical fight at Kohl’s in Southridge Mall, 5300 S. 27th St., were taken into custody at about 7:45 p.m. Feb. 7. The woman was cited for disorderly conduct, and the man was taken into custody on a probation violation.

8 A resident in the 5500 block of Azalea Court reported at 1:45 p.m. Feb. 7 that she had been defrauded out of $4,000 in gift cards. The resident told police she received a phone call from her nephew asking her to bail him out of jail by purchasing Walmart gift cards. The investigating officer was able to recover $769 of the resident’s money.
