Police are seeking a 27-year-old man who pulled a knife on an employee who tried to stop him from shoplifting at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St., at 4:45 a.m. Aug. 5. According to police, the man’s brother was trying to distract employees while he tried to walk out with a basket full of unpaid merchandise. After threatening the employee with a knife, the man fled the lot in a gray Mazda, leaving his brother behind.
A headboard, footboard, two end tables and two lamps were stolen out of a unit at Benning Storage, 10101 S. 60th St., between 11:50 a.m. and noon Aug. 2. The burglary was recorded on surveillance video, which showed a white male and white female cleaning out the unit and driving away.
A $400 Husqvarna chainsaw, a $300 Stihl edger and a $35 Homelite chainsaw were reported stolen out of a backyard shed in the 6900 block of West Hollow Lane at 1:40 a.m. Aug. 3. The resident told police he saw three males in his yard who ran north toward West Imperial Drive when the resident confronted them. The resident’s unlocked truck was also rummaged through and his swimming pool was cut open and damaged. The suspects are described as three white males in their 20s between 5 foot 6 and 5 foot 7 inches tall wearing dark clothing.
A safe containing Social Security cards, credit cards and checks was stolen out of a locked residence in the 10300 block of West Loomis Road between 11 a.m. Aug. 2 and 8 p.m. Aug. 3. The suspect broke a double-pane window in the family room to get inside the home.
A resident in the 6400 block of South 35th Street found a man standing inside her garage at about midnight Aug. 6. The man, described only as a thin male, ran out of the garage when he saw the resident and sped off in a red van. Police believe the van was stolen after discovering a red van matching the description of this vehicle was stolen in Greenfield, and was later found abandoned in Oak Creek where another vehicle was stolen. The man stole a couple packs of cigarettes from two unlocked autos.
An iPhone 6S was stolen off a counter in a garage in the 7200 block of South Countryside Drive between noon and 5 p.m. Aug. 2. The garage door was open when the theft occurred.
A 42-year-old Mt. Pleasant woman was taken into custody for stealing 54 hydrocodone pills at Walgreens, 9527 S. 27th St., at 2:15 p.m. Aug. 2. The woman was an employee at the store.
A 27-year-old woman was cited for theft for committing two gas drive-offs at Kwik Trip, 10750 W. Speedway Drive, at 2:40 p.m. Aug. 2. The woman was initially taken into custody by New Berlin police, where she admitted to pulling off at least 34 gas drive-offs.
A loaded Walters chrome-plated, .32-caliber pistol with a pearl handle and merchandise recently purchased at Kohl’s were reported stolen out of an unlocked Ford F150 pickup truck in the 4100 block of West McGinnis Drive at 8:50 a.m. Aug. 3.
A garage door opener was stolen out of an unlocked vehicle in the 3300 block of West Franklin Terrace between 7:45 p.m. Aug. 3 and 7:45 a.m. Aug. 4.
A wallet containing a credit card was reported stolen out of an unlocked vehicle in the 8800 block of South 51st Street at 11:15 a.m. Aug. 4. The resident discovered the credit card was used to make a purchase at a gas station.
A $20 Starbucks gift certificate, $40, nude pictures, two sex toys and a handful of cash were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 3100 block of West Woodward Drive between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 5 and 9 a.m. Aug. 6.
Four gift cards, valued at $40, and $5 cash were stolen out of an unlocked vehicle in the 3100 block of West Woodward Drive between 10:30 p.m. Aug. 6 and 9 a.m. Aug. 6.
A 54-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly slamming a door on his wife and punching her in the shoulder during an argument in the 6300 block of South 35th Street at 9:15 p.m. Aug. 1.
A 20-year-old Franklin man was taken into custody for possession of a Schedule 3 narcotic after police found morning glory seeds in his possession during a field interview in the 7400 block of South 68th Street at 2:55 a.m. Aug. 3. Morning glory seeds contain Lysergic Acid Amide, which is a restricted controlled substance in the same family as LSD.
A 30-year-old Cambria woman was taken into custody for illegal possession of a prescription drug (suboxone) and possession of drug paraphernalia, and a 26-year-old Hales Corners man was taken into custody for possession of drug paraphernalia at Kwik Trip, 10750 W. Speedway Drive, at 4:45 a.m. Aug. 5. The two are also facing possible theft/burglary charges after police found two stolen firearms in their vehicle.
A 34-year-old Milwaukee woman was taken into custody for possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstructing for giving police a false name during a traffic stop on South 27th Street and West Puetz Road at 5 a.m. Aug. 7.
The front bumper and arm rail were ripped off a golf utility cart at the Wehr Nature Center, 9701 W. College Ave., after someone apparently tried to drive it away while it was chained up between 4:30 p.m. Aug. 4 and noon Aug. 5. The ignition was also damaged from being started without a key.
A bus shelter/shed door was damaged in the 9900 block of West Oakwood Road between 8 and 10:30 p.m. Aug. 8. Damage is estimated at $200.
A 23-year-old Kenosha man was taken into custody for shooting a gun into an occupied vehicle in the parking lot at On The Border, 10741 S. 27th St., at about 2:15 a.m. July 30. According to police, the man was with a group of men from Kenosha who started arguing with a group of men from Waukegan, Illinois, when the suspect pulled a gun and shot into their vehicle. The man is facing charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and felon in possession of a firearm. Another man inside the suspect’s vehicle is also facing possible charges pending evidence processing. No injuries were reported.
A resident in the 7800 block of S. North Cape Road lost $200 to an IRS phone scammer at 7:05 p.m. Aug. 3.
Police received a report that a car dropped a person off at a residence in the 6900 block of West Hollow Lane at about 4:25 a.m. Aug. 4, and that person was seen walking through the resident’s yard with a flashlight for about three minutes. The incident was caught on surveillance video. Nothing was reported stolen from the property.
A man who used a fake ID and credit card to purchase a $982 iPhone 7 at Verizon Wireless, 6531 S. 27th St., was chased by officers after he fled the lot in a red Dodge Charger when police arrived at about 2:35 p.m. Aug. 7. Police pursued the vehicle for about three miles into Racine County, where the Racine County Sheriff’s Department picked up the pursuit until law enforcement lost sight of the vehicle in Illinois.
A 2016 Infiniti QX50 that was stolen during a burglary at a home in the 7800 block of West Bur Oak Drive on July 29, was found in a towing yard on 37th and Wells in Milwaukee on Aug. 7.
