Wehr Nature Center will host a night out with owls on several nights in December and January at the nature center, 9701 W College Ave. in Whitnall Park, Franklin.
Participants in each Owl Prowl program will hike through the woodlands looking for great horned owls and eastern screech owls. A Wehr naturalist will also give an indoor presentation highlighting the habits and adaptations of the owls.
Admission for programs in December is $10 for non-Milwaukee County residents, $7 for residents, and $5 for members of Friends of Wehr. Admission for programs in January is $12 for non-Milwaukee County residents, $10 for residents, and $7 for members of Friends of Wehr.
Owl Prowl programs for adults will be held from 7-9 p.m. Dec. 16, Jan. 6, and Jan 7, and a twilight program will be held 4-6 p.m on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Owl Prowl programs for families will be offered from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Dec. 17, Jan. 20, and Jan. 21. Two twilight programs for families will be offered from 3:30-5:30 p.m. on Dec. 17 and Jan. 21. The family program is recommended for children age six or older.
Wehr will also provide an Owl Prowl program for youth groups in second grade or above from 4-6 pm. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Ross Lodge, 6750 S. 92nd St.
Participants should dress in warm clothing and bring flashlights. Registration is recommended by the Wednesday before the program is held.
