FRANKLIN - Police have taken a suspect into custody after responding to a report of gunshots around 1:30 a.m. Friday, March 3 near the Franklin Walmart, 6701 S 27th Street.

The Franklin Police Department (FPD), with assistance from Oak Creek and Greenfield police, located a male suspect and took him into custody the same morning.

The FPD says no one was injured during the incident and there is no further danger to the public.

Investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

"We know gunshots were fired and we're still trying to figure out why," said FPD Capt. Kevin Magno.

The Milwaukee County district attorney's office will review the case at a later date.

According to press release from the FPD, police responded to the area specifically in the 2700 block of W. Sycamore Street, the street that runs between Walmart and Home Depot. There was heavy police presence at the Walmart building early that morning.
