Oak Creek — Value Oak Creek Cinema is being sold to The Ridge Community Church.

Marcus Theatres announced the sale of the Oak Creek Value Cinema, 6912 S 27th St., on Nov. 30. The sale is expected to be completed in 2017 with a final agreement and municipal approvals still needed.

Until then, the theater will operate at full capacity, according to a news release.

The Ridge Community Church currently operates out of a former Walmart building in Greenfield at 4500 S 108th St. The Ridge plans to remodel the Value Cinema building to be used as a second location for its services and expects to open in fall 2017.

The Ridge, a non-denominational church which began in 2006, presented a purchase offer for the building and land this fall.  In its news release, Marcus said "selling the theater after 20 years of serving the community is difficult, but it is the right business decision."

For the Ridge, it represented an opportunity.

"We are excited for the opportunity to serve the people of Oak Creek and surrounding communities," said Lead Pastor Mark Weight. "We currently have several hundred attendees from this area of Metro Milwaukee, and we look forward to serving even more of our new neighbors at both our services and through volunteer work and community outreach.”

According to the release, all 21 employees of the theaer will be offered jobs at other Marcus Theatres locations.

The Ridge holds services Thursdays and Sundays at its Greenfield location – including a live stream via its online campus on Roku.
