OAK CREEK - An Oak Creek resident and her family will be contestants on "Family Feud" on Wednesday, April 19.
Judy Faller (who on the show is listed by her maiden name, Gitlewski), a stay-at-home mom with six children, will compete alongside her sister Sue Robb, her niece Kayla Franecki, her sister Karen Krawczyk, and her niece Alissa Gadouas.
Faller said the family auditioned, in a simulated "Family Feud" game, in November 2015 in Milwaukee.
"We had so much fun," she said. "Every time we're together it is so much fun."
Following the initial audition, they were slipped a sheet of paper from a producer, who whispered they should go discretely into the next room.
"I don't think we were too discrete," Faller said. "We were dancing in the halls."
Two producers were inside that room, and the family had to talk about themselves to show they're "awesome." Faller said After the meeting, she was told the family may receive a postcard if they had been put into an "active file." A "painful" three months later one was in the mailbox, she said.
The family then had to wait for an email confirming the selection, which came in shortly after, and they were off on a flight to Atlanta, Georgia, in May 2016, for one more audition to pass. They did. However, Steve Harvey went home sick and they were asked to return in August (which was difficult for Faller because she hates flying).
"Once back in August we were able to experience the show," she said. "It's like a family, everyone was so nice we just loved them."
Overall, she said the experience was memorable and fun.
"It was such an amazing experience," Faller said. "I am so in love with Steve Harvey – he is so funny."
Their appearance on "Family Feud" marks the second time this year that an Oak Creek family is appearing a popular syndicated national show. Another local family was selected to appear on "America's Funniest Home Videos," featuring costumed kids in a costumed T-Rex tussle video that won third place.
