Topics announced for final Clinton-Trump debate

Moderator Chris Wallace announced Wednesday the topics for next week's final presidential debate, and he was a bit more specific than were hosts for the previous two forums.

Wallace, who will host the Oct. 19 debate at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, chose these subject areas for the third debate between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, according to a release from the Commission on Presidential Debates:

• Debt and entitlements

• Immigration

• Economy

• Supreme Court

• Foreign hot spots

• Fitness to be president

The commission said the 90-minute debate will be comprised of six segments of 15 minutes, each of which will address the issues listed above, though not necessarily in that sequence.

Ahead of the opening debate Sept. 26 in Hempstead, N.Y., moderator Lester Holt said that he would ask questions pertaining to "America's Direction," "Achieving Prosperity" and "Securing America." Prior to Sunday's town-hall forum in St. Louis, the commission said the questions would be about "topics of broad public interest as reflected in social media and other sources."

On paper, at least, the Las Vegas debate seems as if it could be more policy-oriented than the sharply personal St. Louis face off, though expect the "fitness to be president" segment to get rather feisty.
