Isaiah Woullard waited his whole life for the call he received at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

It was Ole Miss football coach Hugh Freeze, and he was offering the Presbyterian Christian senior running back a scholarship.

"It was awesome," Woullard said. "He called, and he said, 'Hey man, it's going to happen,' and he wanted to offer. I couldn't hold it in. It was indescribable. It paid off. I thank God. He worked all this out. So, I'm just thankful."

After a wild ride of recruiting, Mississippi's all-time leading rusher in high school football history officially signed with Ole Miss on Wednesday. Woullard, who rushed for 2,761 yards and 36 touchdowns in his final season at PCS, said it was everything he ever wanted when he signed with the Rebels.

"It's a dream come true," Woullard said. "I'm just ready to work now."

Woullard totaled 8,334 yards and 93 rushing touchdowns during his four-year career at PCS. Woullard also tallied 1,191 career rush attempts, and PCS coach Joey Hawkins said that's exactly what he told Freeze when the Rebels coach visited Jan. 15.

"I told him he rushed almost 1,200 times and never missed a practice, let alone a game," Hawkins said. "That will tell you something right there. He's durable. He's tough. You can put him on kickoff team, punt team, punt-block team, it don't matter. He just wants to play football. His intangibles are unparalleled."

Hawkins was also the first to know when Woullard was offered a scholarship and is happy for his player to continue his career at an SEC school.

"It was jubilation," Hawkins said. "He's so well-deserving. He's been an amazing young man for us. He's going to give you everything he's got every second of every day. He's classy, humble, and he's going to do real well."

Woullard's recruiting was a journey for him. He was offered by Southern Miss and Idaho during the summer of 2016 but did not commit. In the meantime, the Golden Eagles and Vandals filled up their classes, which put Woullard's future in jeopardy.

But after PCS' season ended, Ole Miss came on strong and Woullard now can't imagine playing for anyone else.

"It was nerve-racking," Woullard said. "Wait — that's all I could do, but it worked out. I visited up there and after that I was like 'Wow, this is a great place.' "
