Whitnall football players choose colleges

Whitnall football players announced their college commitments in the past few weeks.

Nick O'Boyle, a long snapper, accepted a walk-on offer at Western Illinois University, an NCAA Division 1 FCS school.

Punter and placekicker Francisco Perez committed to the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He was a first-team all-Woodland Conference East Division choice at kicker and honorable mention at punter in 2015.

Center Dominic Vent committed to UW-Platteville. He was honorable-mention all-conference in 2015 as well.

Tight end Nic Smith will play for the University of Dubuque, which won its conference last season. Smith led the state in receptions for tight ends with 65 and earned all-region and unanimous first-team all-division honors, along with making the Now Newspapers All-Suburban squad.

Wide receiver Cory Drews committed to Lakeland College, which also won its conference in 2015. Drews was honorable-mention all-East Division.

Greendale volleyball players sign with colleges

Two members of Greendale's girls volleyball team, which qualified for the WIAA Division 1 State Tournament last fall, signed national letters of intent.

Ally Bialo will attend and play for the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Sarah Grabowski for Carthage College in Kenosha.
