David Pulizos and Nate Thomson both put together strong all-around games to lead the Greendale boys basketball team over Shorewood, 89-67, on Jan. 22.
Pulizos collected 35 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists and connected on seven 3-point field goals, and Thomson tallied 29 points, with five 3-pointers, and six assists.
'Dave was outstanding; he really set the tone early, and it showed in his play,' coach Ryan Johnsen said. 'Rebounding is one thing that Dave has done a great job of this year. He has really improved that area of his game, and it is great to see.
'Nate had a great game as well, and those two seniors set the tone for us.'
Pulizos, in scoring 30 or more points for the fifth time this season, moved past former teammate Josh Michaels into fourth place on the all-time Greendale list with 1,171 points.
Clay Kujawa and Zach Harrison each added 8 points, with Kujawa chipping in with five rebounds and five assists.
The Panthers' offense was in high gear throughout, bolting to a 43-28 halftime lead and adding 46 points in the second half. Greendale also connected on a total of 13 shots from 3-point range.
'It was an overall great team win,' Johnsen said. 'We are playing well right now, the kids are having fun and playing together and it is showing in our results. We hope to continue the trend this week and beyond.'
