Nicole Polka Bitter, Eric Brunner and coach Dean Russell will be inducted into the Greendale High School Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, Feb. 3.
Polka Bitter graduated in 1991 and was a standout in both tennis and basketball for the Panthers. She was the leader of a powerful Greendale basketball squad and was a two-time choice for Now Newspapers Player of the Year.
Brunner, who graduated in 2007, was an all-state football player, and Russell coached the Greendale swimming program from 1960-1990.
They are all part of the second class of inductees for the Greendale Hall, which opened in February of 2016. This year's ceremonies will take place in the school gymnasium on Feb. 3 between the junior varsity and varsity boys basketball games against Brown Deer.
"Greendale takes great pride in the accomplishments of its student-athletes," said Greendale Athletics and Activities Director Jerad Galante. "The Athletic Hall of Fame class of 2017 represents highly accomplished athletes and a coach who have made an impact on their sports in ways that are remembered by Greendale High School and the greater community. We are excited to honor them with this distinction."
Nomination forms for the Hall are available online at www.greendale.k12.wi.us. Nominations for the class of 2018 will be accepted beginning this summer. For more information, contact the athletics office at 414-423-0590.
