Both the Franklin and Oak Creek boys basketball teams saw their seasons come to an end on Friday, March 3, when they lost WIAA regional semifinal contests.

Franklin (7-16 overall) built a 35-27 lead on host Milwaukee Vincent but then were outscored, 42-28, in the second half of a 69-63 defeat.

And for the second year in a row, Oak Creek (13-10) fell in a tight 67-62 decision to Milwaukee Hamilton.

For Oak Creek, the Knights had the score tied at 29-29 at the half but were then outscored 38-33 in the second half, Guard Harrison Cleary closed out his stellar career with 28 points, while Drew Yetka had 17 and Joey Zietlow nine.

The Wildcats had three plays score in double figures, led by Equan Ards with 19. The loss closed a frustrating 3-5 close to the season for the Knights.

Hamilton (15-9) went on to lose 111-82 regional final decision to City Conference champion Riverside on March 5.

For Franklin, the Sabers hung in until the end when they had both Max Alba and Tyler Klug foul out. The game was called tightly as the Vikings hit 20 of 33 free throws and the Sabers 20 of 29. Alba would lead Franklin in scoring with 20, while Sam Ruetz had 17 and Max Fassbender seven.

Alba hit eight of 10 free throws in the contest.

Vincent (18-6) went on to beat Racine Horlick, 74-66, in the WIAA regional final on March 5.
