LAS VEGAS — Nick Rolovich was looking for an Elvis and knew just any old King wouldn't do. So he went for the best.

"He's one of the most acclaimed impersonators," Rolovich said from Mountain West Conference media days, where for two hours every step he took — to radio, television and print interviews — was shadowed by a late-era vintage, slightly paunchy Elvis, both strutting and thank you very much-ing their way through media availability.

"Basically, I just said, 'Hang out.' We're friends for two hours. He brought it."

It cost $350 an hour, out of Rolovich's pocket, but it was money well spent. A year ago, the Warriors' second-year coach made his media days debut by putting together a game of Pokémon Go, even drawing Commissioner Craig Thompson into the action.

Hugh Freeze is gone, but question remains: What did Ole Miss know, when did it know it?

That was free. Elvis cost $700. But it could've been more: Rolovich looked into renting a monkey to place on his shoulder like a pirate, in homage to Washington State maestro Mike Leach, a devotee of all things buccaneering.

There were two sticking points with this plan. One was cost; the monkey would've run to $2,000, and a line had to be drawn somewhere in the sand. Another was the difficulty in acquiring a permit, since not even Sin City will allow loose simians without some sort of proper documentation.

Quick: Name another Football Bowl Subdivision head coach who would even consider the idea of making Elvis his co-pilot. But that's Rolovich, who since being hired following the 2015 regular season has taken a unique approach to bringing attention to the Warriors' football program.

"I just think we're a little bit out of touch with the reality of real life, you know?" Rolovich asked. "I just want to bring that realness back."

One Elvis at a time. Thank you very much.
